Automation
- Automation: Auto Sell, Packager, Machines and J.O.O.N.A.S.▶ VideoBuy the Building Tool ($50), then a Packager ($100). Anything a conveyor carries into the depot's outside intake is sold automatically as it arrives (since patch 1.0.3). For more money, run dust through a Pressure Chamber ($500) → Moon Sand, 3× the value, then a Stone Press ($1,000) → 7×. Machines need solar power, which drops to zero at night. Endgame: J.O.O.N.A.S. ($20,000) robots cleaning sectors and firing capsules into a Capsule Catcher ($1,500).
- Night, Power and Night Vision GogglesMoon Sweepers has a day/night cycle. At night solar power drops to zero, so machines run on their batteries and stop when the batteries are empty — guides suggest about two large solar panels per machine. To see, buy Night Vision Goggles ($350, patch 1.0.4) and press N to cycle lamp → goggles → off. The exact length of a night isn't published.
- Factory Ratio Calculator (Pressure Chamber : Stone Press)With the build-menu rates (Pressure Chamber 25 kg/min; Stone Press 10 kg dust + 10 kg Moon Sand → 20 kg/min), the balanced ratio is 2 Pressure Chambers : 5 Stone Presses — the same 1 : 2 : 5 (Catcher : Chamber : Press) that players post. Every 100 kg/min of dust needs 2 Chambers and 5 Presses, about 110 kW of power, and turns the dust into Moonstone worth about 7× raw dust. Use the calculator for your own numbers.
Basics
- Beginner Guide: What to Buy First▶ VideoClean with the free Toothbrush and ship your first load. At $25 skip the Nail Brush and buy the Household Broom (3 kg). Untangle flags ($100) and finish survey sites ($250) for quick cash. Next: Building Tool $50 → Packager $100 → a conveyor into the depot intake so dust sells itself, then a Garage and vehicle, and later Pressure Chambers and J.O.O.N.A.S.
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox, Switch, Mac, Steam DeckMoon Sweepers is Steam on Windows only (released Oct 23, 2026). No PS5, Xbox, Switch, Mac or mobile version has been announced. Steam Deck isn't rated by Valve yet, but patch 1.0.4 fixed startup on older Proton versions. It costs $8.99 (15% off until Oct 30) and has full controller support. No crossplay — there's only one platform.
- Patch Notes and UpdatesThe latest patch is 1.0.4 (Oct 25): Night Vision Goggles ($350 suit upgrade, press N), J.O.O.N.A.S. now cleans 2× faster and keeps working with no players nearby, a better Moon map with teleports, near-instant saving and 5 automatic save backups. 1.0.3 (Oct 24) made upgrades shared across the whole crew, paid belt deliveries as they arrive and added host kick/ban. All players must be on the same version to play together.
- Co-op and MultiplayerUp to 16 players can play online co-op on one save. Since patch 1.0.3 (Oct 24) the whole crew uses the host's upgrade tree — anyone's purchase upgrades everyone. The host can kick and ban players (ESC → Your Crew). Everyone must be on the same game version. No crossplay (Windows/Steam only) and no dedicated servers listed.
- Save File Location, Backups and Crash FixesSince patch 1.0.4 every save slot keeps up to 5 automatic backups (one a minute into each session, then every 30 minutes) in
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\LocalLow\DragDropGames\MoonSweepers\Backups— outside Steam Cloud. Damaged saves are repaired from these automatically when the world loads. AMD crashes: the game now defaults to DirectX 11.
Tools & Upgrades
- Every Tool and Upgrade (with Prices)▶ VideoHand tools, cheapest to best: Toothbrush (free) → Nail Brush $5 → Handbrush $10 → Household Broom $25 (3 kg) → Wide Broom $75 → Extra Wide Broom $150. On top of that the Upgrade Matrix sells Wide Head (+8% width, $40), Dust Compactor (+15% capacity, $150) and Market Contracts (+6% payout, $120) as first levels. Since patch 1.0.3 upgrades are shared by the whole crew.
- How to Make Money Fast▶ VideoEarly: untangle flags ($100) and finish survey sites ($250). Then stop walking — a Packager + conveyor into the depot intake sells dust as it arrives. Buy Market Contracts (+6% per level) once dust flows steadily. The big jump is processing: Moon Sand sells for 3× raw dust and Moonstone for 7×. Late game, more J.O.O.N.A.S. robots = more money.
- Vehicles: Prices and Which Is Best▶ VideoBuild a Garage ($200) first. Then: Push Sweeper $300 → Ride-on Sweeper $1,000 → Lunar Sweeper $2,500 (2.8 m strip, 1,200 kg hopper) → Mega Vacuum Rover $6,000 (4 m intake, 3,000 kg tank) — the best cleaning vehicle. The Crew Transport Van ($2,000) only carries players and doesn't clean.
Progress
- All 33 Achievements (with Unlock Rates)Moon Sweepers has 33 achievements. Most come naturally from cleaning, earning and spending. The ones that block 100%: OH You Have Friends? (someone has to actually join your game), the hidden It'll Get There Eventually (loop dust round a closed conveyor ring), Do You Live Here? (10,000 depot deposits) and the Moon-cleaning trio — 10%, 50% and 100% of the Moon (Time To Go Sleep…, 0.0% of players on Oct 28).
- How Long to Beat, Ending and Late GameThere's no story ending — the goal is cleaning the whole Moon. Reviewers report buying every upgrade in about 5–9 hours, at under 1% of the Moon cleaned; one player was at 1.6% after 26 hours. Cleaning 100% (achievement Time To Go Sleep…) is a very long automation grind — 0.0% of players have it as of Oct 28.
